Bulgarkontrola S.A. is internationally recognized company in the fields of commodities inspections, conformity assessment and certification, also servicing of the Bulgarian and international insurance markets as an agent for surveys and settlement of insurance claims and correspondent of major International P&I clubs.

The Head Office is located at Sofia, Bulgaria with net of local branch offices and own accredited by Bulgarian Accreditation Service (BAS) test laboratories in Sofia and Plovdiv. The Sofia test laboratory examines textile products and safety of toys. The test laboratory in Plovdiv is accredited by BAS to test various kind of foods & beverages. The specialized chemical laboratory in Sofia (Ilientzi District) is accredited by BAS for testing of fuels. All Bulgarkontrola's test laboratories are accredited in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO/IEC 17025:2006.

 Bulgarkontrola S.A. is an Inspection body of type “A”  certified by BAS for inspections of fuels and playgrounds.

The company was established on 4^th of February, 1952 at Sofia as independent department to Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 1992 Bulgarkontrola was registered as joint-stock company, in 2002 the company was privatized and now is 100% private. The first ISO 9000 certification was acquired by Bulgarkontrola in 1999 (by BSI – London), in 2001 the company ISO 9000 Quality Management System was re-certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). The present company's Quality Management System is certified by LRQA (Certificate of Approval № SOF0368056 of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System  ).
Bulgarkontrola is the first Bulgarian body, notified by European commission concerning conformity assessment of lifts and construction products. The company is listed in NANDO (New Approach Notified and Designated Organizations Information System) as Notified body NB 1814 responsible for carrying out the conformity assessment procedures of lifts, construction products and toys.
The company is authorised by the Bulgarian State Agency for Metrology and Technical Surveillance to carry out conformity assessment of lifts and toys.The company is also authorised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works to carry out conformity assessment of construction products according to the requirements of the respective European Directives.   Bulgarkontrola is member of various international and domestic organisation (see the Memberships section).
